ROCKETING TO NEW FRONTIERS
At ABA Techshow, an established practice management
vendor launches an unexpected suite of marketing tools.
LegalTech New York 2013’s dom- inant agenda was, as usual, electronic data discovery. By
contrast, this spring’s American Bar
Association’s Techshow had a very dif-
ferent agenda. Instead of EDD, the over-
arching theme of Techshow was prac-
tice management, in all its various
forms. This was evident in the three
days of programs, which focused on
practical topics geared to solo and small
firms. Speakers covered the paperless
office, document assembly, speech rec-
ognition software, cloud applications,
remote access, social media, and tablet
computing. Yes, the schedule included
nods to e-discovery and large-firm prac-
tice, but those programs were decidedly
in the minority.
